East London Dance has announced its line up for Dance Currents 2014, its annual season of dance.

Icon – Friday 21 March, 7.30pm
Curated by Myself UK Dance Company
All female London based hip-hop crew, Myself UK Dance Company return to East London Dance with ICON – a dance show celebrating female icons of the world, in support of International Women’s Week. The night is inspired by the contributions of iconic women across history and is intended to celebrate their achievements, marking the economic, political, artistic and social success of women. To achieve this, Myself UK Dance invites the very best hip hop companies and artists to create brand new work inspired by their female icons of choice. The show puts powerful females under the spotlight.
Collabo – Friday 4 and Saturday 5 April, 7.30pm

The incredibly successful Collabo returns for two nights in 2014. With a different line up each night, we will see some of the hottest companies and crews to have graced our stages and screens in the last year, step out of their comfort zone to present dynamic new collaborations and interpretations. Every evening is sure to thrill as we watch these well-known companies take this unique challenge and earn their stripes as truly creative and versatile dance artists.
Blueprint – Saturday 12 April, 7.30pm
With emerging choreographers
Blueprint presents a mixed bill of work by talented emerging choreographers, keen to showcase their work in a traditional theatre space. Uncovering raw talent and giving the stage to the artists who are sitting on the edge of great success, East London Dance are proud to support the next generation of dance makers. Previous Blueprint artists include: Boy Blue Entertainment, James Wilton and Cathy Waller.
The Black Album – Friday 30 May, 7.30pm

The Black Album is a journey of music inspired dance that merges physicality and sheer technique with creativity and power, resulting in a gorgeous menu of visually stunning dance. This is a new way to listen to dance and a new way to watch music. From Jazzanova to Mozart, Woodkid to Trentemoller, Linkin Park to Beethoven, innovative contemporary choreography will take you on a soulful journey.
