ZooNation is to preview extracts from its latest hip hop theatre project Some Like It Hip Hop at Sadler’s Wells Sampled 2011.

Some Like It Hip Hop is ZooNation’s follow up to the Into The Hoods, which ended its run at the Southbank Centre in August. The title for the new show is inspired by the film Some Like It Hot featuring choreography from Tommy Franzén, Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and Ryan Chappell and directed by Kate Prince.

Tommy Franzén, choreographer and dancer in the show, said, “We are really looking forward to performing a taster of Some Like It Hip Hop at Sampled 2011 at Sadler’s Wells. Next year is going to be an exciting year bringing the full show to life.”

Tommy will also star alongside So You Think You Can Dance contestant Lizzie Gough and Streetdance 3D actress Teneisha Bonner, the latter who recently collaborated with Kate Prince for the Sadler’s Wells production of Shoes.

The introduction of Some Like It Hip Hop sees ZooNation continuing their relationship with the venue since its became a Sadler’s Wells resident company in June. Earlier in November the company was also nominated for a National Dance Award, with the results due to be announced in January.

Sampled is Sadler’s Wells‘ annual show held in January allowing audiences to preview performances for their upcoming season. Also performing work in January will be James Wilton, winner of the Sadler’s Wells Global Dance Contest, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, American Ballet Theatre and Balletboyz.

Free pre-show and post-show street dance workshops will take place as part of the evening, which can be booked in advance.

Tickets for Sadler’s Wells Sampled 2011 go on sale Monday 6 December 2010.
