Sky has launch an iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch app to allow viewers to interact and vote while watching the dance competition.
The app allows users to comment on their social networks, answer polls and be the judge of the show in their living rooms, rewarding users with prizes the more they interact.

The app also allows users to vote for what dance acts in the live Got to Dance semi final they want to win by purchasing a ‘bundle’ of votes for 59p billed to their iTunes account, rather than casting a telephone vote.
The app was developed by Mobile Interactive Group who in developing the app take advantage of the growing trend of viewers who update their social networks while watching a TV programme.
Barry Houlihan, CEO of Mobile Interactive Group (MIG), said, “We are revolutionising the participation TV market globally … This new platform which enables a host of interactivity transforms the future of participation TV. Consumers now watch TV with a connected device close to hand, making this new experience really relevant, fun and easy to use.”
According to PhonepayPlus industry research, voting and participating with TV in the UK is worth £32m and that 29.4% of the population had participated in some form of interactivity.
Emma Lloyd, business development director at Sky, commented: “By offering users the chance to vote for their favourite performer, the Got To Dance app introduces a new way for viewers to interact with live TV using their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. We have long championed the ability of apps to enhance the linear viewing experience and are pleased this app brings it to another level.”
The Got to Dance app is available from iTunes App Store.
