Diversity launched their own brand of dance classes at Fitness First gyms yesterday with a performance at Old Spitalfields Market in London.

Diversity Street Dance classes will be available exclusively at Fitness First classes around the UK from 25 March.

The Diversity dance classes will fuse street dance moves set to dance routines with traditional gym workout elements. While the classes are branded as “Diversity Street Dance,” the classes will be taken by specially trained fitness instructors trained by Diversity at Fitness First gyms across the UK.

“Diversity Street Dance is for absolutely anyone. One of our hopes of doing the class is to attract more people to street dance,” said Ashley Banjo, lead choreographer of Diversity. “The idea is for people to have fun, gain an insight into a different style of dance and learn how to put a routine together. All this as well as getting fit at the same time.”

Classes will be pitched at different difficulties for those with more dance experience.

“We’ve amended the routines and added in more complex steps to challenge anyone who is an experienced dancer so hopefully there should be something in there for everyone no matter what level they are,” Ashley continued.

Following the launch performance Ashley Banjo commented: “Great being down at Old Spitalfields Market to perform for Fitness First to launch our Diversity Street Dance Class. It was awesome to be part of such a unique event. Now get down to Fitness First and try the class.”

In November 2010 Diversity released Dance Fitness Fusion, a DVD of workouts using routines inspired by their style of moves which focused on street dancing. The same year Diversity fronted an NHS Change4Life campaign encouraging children to get active and dance.
