Rap-On-Zel in Into The HoodsA selection of reviews from newspapers, arts websites and bloggers about Zoonation‘s hip hop theatre production Into the Hoods at the Southbank Centre.

Compared to the last run of Into the Hoods over December 2009 to January 2010, there were fewer reviews in the mainstream press with many news outlets picking up on Thandie Newton’s dress than on the show itself.

This show is a definite must see for everyone. The storyline is amazingly brilliant, funny and entertaining – it doesn’t matter if you’re into dance or fairytales. I guarantee you will love ZooNation’s Into the Hoods.

Daily Mail 4/5
The story of ‘da kidz’ on the ‘Ruff Endz Estate’ has been tightened up and the dancing has become more sharply choreographed. In short, Zoonation is a slicker, sassier brand — and with that, it’s lost a teeny bit of its edge.

The Fairytale Cupboard
Kate Prince’s show remains an inspired and vibrant tribute to the power of the fairy tale, loosely adapted from Sondheim’s Into the Woods but by now very much its own work. It’s on throughout the first half of August at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank, and well worth a visit for any lover of fairytales.

Really Kid Friendly
Some of the routines weren’t as smooth as we’ve seen from ZooNation in the past, but on the whole they are tight, skillful, innovative and slick.
