Alesha’s Street Dance Stars is returning to the CBBC channel for 2012, All Street Dance can reveal. The new series of Street Dance Stars is looking for 24 dance crews to appear on TV.

Auditions will take place in June and July with the top 24 dance crews age between 10 and 16 selected for the show, although crews that made the semi finals stages in the first series will not be allowed. Applications open soon.

Lil Diamonds won Alesha’s Street Dance Stars last year ahead of finalists Wiked and G25 by judges Turbo, Kenrick Sandy and Lizzie Gough. Lil Diamonds won the opportunity to perform at The Lowry at the Salford Quays as well as an opening performance for Some Like It Hip Hop at the Peacock Theatre in London.

Running over ten episodes, the first series of Alesha’s Street Dance Stars included contributions from Jordan Banjo and Perri Luc Kiely from Diversity as mentors for the groups.

Presently Alesha Dixon is a judge on Britain’s Got Talent on ITV after leaving the BBC as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, although she will be returning to the BBC for the new series of her self-titled show.

No announcement has been made regarding the panel of judges for the new series.
