Street Dance XXL is to return in 2014 as a two day event at Wembley Arena, London.
The Street Dance XXL 2014 weekender will take place on 19 and 20 July 2014 and consist of the Street Dance XXL UK Championships on the Saturday and the XXL Global Championships on Sunday.
UK championships categories will be banded into 8-13 years, 14-17 years and 18 and above age groups. Entrants will be subject to an online video qualifying round where the British public can also vote via social media as part of the selection process.
The top UK finalist will be invited to compete live at Wembley on 19 July and winners will take home a cash prize and over 18 category winners representing the UK against the rest of the world the next day at the Global Championships.
Street Dance XXL, formerly Street Dance Weekend, has been a platform for many dance groups that have gone on to appear on television. Previous Street Dance Weekend champions include, Diversity, Flawless and recently, Status, Twist & Pulse and Peridot.
The last Street Dance XXL Championships took place the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre, London in 2011, filmed as part of a Channel 4 documentary.
During the two year hiatus organisers collaborated with production company 2Enshine to create a pilot of Battersea Streets, an online street dance drama set in South London telling the tale of how five young people use street dance to change their lives.
