Breakin’ Convention, the international of hip hop dance theatre, has opened applications for its 2014 UK tour and accompanying online TV channel initiative.

Breakin’ Convention 2014 will return to Sadler’s Wells from 3 to 5 May 2014 before continuing onto a UK tour to nine other theatres until 7 June.

Applications for Breakin’ Convention 2014 are open until Friday 8 November 2013 for the UK tour and Friday 3 January 2014 for the London festival with auditions taking place Sunday 1 December and Sunday 15 December for tour venues and Sunday 26 January and Monday 27 January for London applicants.

Joining Breakin’ Convention on the UK tour will be ILL-Abilities, an international crew that aim to change people’s perceptions of disabilities with Limitless, Ukweli Roach, the first UK company to tour with the festival with ensemble piece Vice, and French crew Wanted Posse with Revolutions.

Breakin’ Convention is a festival of hip hop dance theatre hosted and curated by Jonzi D that has taken place since 2004 at Sadler’s Wells, featuring the best, most influential artists from around the corner and around the world. Recently Breakin’ Convention partook in its first ever international tour at the Apollo Theater Harlem in New York.

Breakin’ Convention TV

In addition to the UK tour Breakin’ Convention is also launching an online video initiative, BCTV, to professionally develop film makers to provide content for their YouTube channel. The selected film makers will be trained by industry professionals and mentored throughout the process of creating a highlight video and a second video of their choosing to accompany each step of the tour for the city they represent.
