Battle of the Year 2011 – bboy crew line up and judges

The b-boy crew line up for Braun Battle of the Year 2011 at the Park & Suites Arena, Montpellier, France, was announced earlier last week.

B-boy crews from regional qualifiers around the world and the defending champions will showcase a six minute dance showcase where the top four crews will be chosen to battle in the 15 minute final round battles.

Battle of the Year organiser Thomas Hergenröther said: “The Braun BOTY 2011 Finals will once again be the biggest b-boy event in the world. We are expecting 12,000 spectators and a total of 20 b-boy crews from all over the world coming to Montpellier, France.”

The Battle of the Year 2011 judges are: Poe One, Movie One, B-Boy Crazy, B-Boy Lilou and B-Boy Taisuke who will be judging on footwork, freezes and power moves.

Jinjo Crew from Korea are Battle of the Year 2010 champions who will be defending their title and will be joined with many other international crews including UK B-Boy Championships 2011 winners, Vagabonds.

Hergenröther continued: “To win the competition the crews have to come up with an extraordinary choreography first. For the battle finals, a high level of individual skill and a good crew tactic is needed.”

Battle of the Year, also referred to as BOTY, is an annual international b-boying series that began in 1990. In the past BOTY world finals were held at the Volkswagenhalle in Braunschweig, Germany until 2009 when event moved to Montpellier, France.
